Bach, 6 Suites a Violoncello solo, Gavriel Lipkind

Revele l'an dernier au public belge (a l'occasion d'un remplacement au pied leve de Maxim Vengerov), le jeune violoncelliste israelien venait,  l'epoque, d'enregistrer les Suites de Bach, sous label propre (toujours un peu suspect), dans une presentation exclusive, fouillee, luxueuse, accompagnee de textes personnels alternant le musicologique et le mystique. Un travail artistique en soi, mais qui n'aurait eu aucun sens si la musique n'avait suivi... La version qu'offre Lipkind de ce monument est captivante, avec, pour premiere vertu, une simplicite miraculeuse, doublement soutenue par une technique sans faille et par une relation qu'on devine tres profonde avec la partition. Lipkind "raconte" ces suites avec une liberte, une fluidite et une energie exceptionnelles. La dynamique est grisante, les couleurs infinies, avec, sous-jacent, un lyrisme inattendu mais tellement juste. La rhetorique pure, mettant a  portee d'ecoute un texte (musical) effectivement "dicte par les dieux".

Revealed last year to the belgian public (on the occasion of a last minute replacement of Maxim Vengerov), the young Israeli cellist had just recorded the Bach Suites, under his own label (always causing a bit of suspicion first), in an exclusive presentation, searched, luxurious, with personal texts alternating musicology and mystics. An artistic work on itself, which would have no meaning if the music did not follow...
The version Lipkind offers of this monument is captivating, with as main quality, a miraculous simplicity, supported by an absolute technique and a very profound connection with the score.
Lipkind "tells" these suites with a freedom, fluidity and an exceptional energy. The dynamic is breathtaking, the colours infinite, an unexpected lyricism but so just.
