After a single season of concert debuts (across Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, and the US) in 2008, the Lipkind Quartet found itself touring half the globe with two contrasting programs.

A few years later, Lipkind Quartet's highlights list already included opening the new quartet series at Viena's Musikverein, opening the Klara Radio Festival (LIVE) at the large studio 4 at Flagey in Brussels, and being reinvited as quartet in residence of GAIA Chamber Music Festival in Switzerland and the Cross Currents Chamber Music Festival in North Carolina.

Recently a Featured Quartet of Germany's Musikfest Bremen and the enchanting Schiermoonikhoog Chamber Music Festival in Holland, the quartet looks forward to two season of exclusive engagements over three continents with new programs, quintet collabroations, masterclasses, festival residencies, and further CD release sin collab. with Naxos of America.

BACKGROUND & INITIATIVE (2004)

Still in the retreat period, Gavriel Lipkind started experimenting with new approaches to quartet playing.

[...] not only the reasons which brought musicians to play in a quartet have changed, also the science of psycho-acoustics and instrumental knowledge have evolved. Finally, being a musician, working as a musician, and collaborating with other musicians in a chamber group on a regular basis in the 21st century, are light-years away from the realities of the past [...]

2013	Reccuring GAIA Chamber Music Festival residence, returning to the US in the summer. South America Tour in November Quartet in residence (teaching and performing) at the Instrumenta Festival in Oaxaca, Mexico.

ANNA LIPKIND • VIOLIN

Anna was born in Moscow into a musical surrounding that is deeply rooted in the string playing traditions passed by David Oistrakh (Viktor Pikaizin & Semyon Snitkovsky), Mikhail Garlicky, Zinaida Gilels and the original Borodin Quartet members.

She began her violin studies at an extremely young age with her mother Elena Mazor and from the age of 5 with Prof. Irina Svetlova in Tel-Aviv. At this early stage Anna was privileged to enjoy the direct influence of some of the greatest violinists of the last century: Zakhar Bron, Boris Kuschnir, Salvatore Accardo, Victor Danchenko, Ida Haendel, Shlomo Mintz, Miriam Fried, Thomas Brandis, Petru Monteanu, Itzhak Perlman, Ivry Gitlis, Tsugio Tokunaga, Georgy Pauk, to mention just a few.

Anna’s first performance with orchestra was at the age of six. Giving frequent recitals and radio performances in Israel, she often traveled to international festivals as well, such as Vladimir Spivakov’s Moscow Meets Friends, Natalya Gutman’s (Oleg Kagan) Festival in Kreuth in Germany, Portogruaro Festival and Lucca Festival in Italy, Miyazaki festival in Japan, Queen Violin Festival in Moldova, Viana Festival in Portugal and Eilat Festival in Israel collaborating with musician such as Peter Donohoe, Pavel Gililov, Grigory Kalinovsky, Julian Rachlin, Maxim Vengerov, Stacey Watton, Pinchas Zukerman. Radio performances with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova, Symphony Orchestra of Chisinau as well as Synphonieta Baden and other smaller groups followed.

At the age of 16, a debut performance with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra under the button of Zubin Mehta lead to Anna’s moving to Europe to study with Pavel Vernikov at the Vienna Conservatory where she became a prize winner of four International Competitions. Anna lives today in Berlin with her husband, the cellist Gavriel Lipkind. Despite her soloist’s background and experience, she always found her true passion in chamber music.

Anna is a member of the Lipkind Quartet and a co-producer of the ‘LIPKIND plays…’ series. An early recipient of the AICF and Buchman-Heimann yearly Scholarships. Plays a Lorenzo Ventapane violin on loan by Prof. Pavel Vernikov.
